Cold pressed castor oil

Extra Pale Pressed (EPP) Grade Castor Oil, also referred to as Pale Pressed Grade (PPG), is a highly refined oil obtained from the first pressing of top-quality castor seeds (Ricinus communis). It is characterized by its exceptional purity (99%), light color, and low acidity.

Key Chemical Components

This grade primarily consists of a unique mixture of triglycerides rich in fatty acids:

  • Ricinoleic Acid (85–90%): The dominant monounsaturated fatty acid responsible for the oil’s high viscosity and anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Oleic Acid (2.5–6%): An omega-9 fatty acid that contributes to oxidative stability.
  • Linoleic Acid (2.5–7%): An omega-6 fatty acid essential for skin and hair nourishment.
  • Other Fatty Acids: Contains minor amounts of Stearic Acid (up to 2.5%), Palmitic Acid (up to 2%), and trace amounts of Linolenic and Eicosenoic acids.
  • Nutrients: It is naturally high in Vitamin E and various antioxidants

Notable Characteristics

Refinement: Unlike industrial “Commercial Grade” oil, the Extra Pale grade is obtained from the first pressing and refined with activated clay or bleaching earth to achieve its “water white” or very light yellow color.

Safety: The pressing process removes nearly all ricin (a toxic lectin found in the seeds), making the oil safe for topical and pharmaceutical use.

Solubility: It is completely soluble in ethyl alcohol without turbidity.
